It's no secret that helping your military kids pay for college can be very hard. Sure, you have the post-9/11 GI Bill that you might be able to transfer, but not everyone qualifies. And getting in-state tuition or finding a school in the place you actually live can be impossible.

That's why every single tuition related penny you can scrape together helps.

Fortunately, there are a variety of organizations that offer scholarships just for military kids, including one from the Defense Commissary Agency and the Fisher House -- and all you have to do is apply before the deadline.

Funded by the commissary's manufacturers and suppliers and administered by Fisher House, the scholarship gives at least one $2,000 scholarship to a military kid near every commissary location that has qualified applicants, officials said. A total of 700 grants, each for $2,000, are given out, they said.

To qualify for this scholarship applicants must be a dependent, unmarried child under 21 of a active duty or Guard or Reserve service member or a retiree. Survivors of military members who died on active duty or retirees also qualify. Dependents who are between 21 and 23 and enrolled full-time at a college or university can also apply.

The deadline for the scholarship is Feb. 16, 2018. The application can be found here.

Good luck!
