The next regular payday is a smidge early, and it means a lloonngg pay period for the second half of this month. Because 15 January is a federal holiday, the military payday is on Friday, 12 January 2018. That means the next payday isn't until Thursday, 1 February 2018 - almost three weeks between paychecks!

When will your 12 January 2018 military pay be available to use? As always, that depends on the policies and practices of your financial institution. Some banks and credit unions offer early direct deposit as a benefit to their customers. If your bank or credit union doesn't offer early direct deposit, then you will probably see your deposit available in your bank account at some point on the actual payday.

USAA

USAA credits pay deposits one business day prior to the actual payday. For this pay period, that will be Thursday, 11 January 2018.

Pay deposits can come at any time during the day. See USAA's Timing of Military Direct Deposits for more info.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay two business days prior to the actual military payday. For this pay period, that will be Wednesday, 10 January 2018.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union credits military pay two business days prior to the actual military payday. For this pay period, that will be Wednesday, 10 January 2018.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has two different pay deposit dates.

If you use an Active Duty Checking account for your military pay deposit, your deposit will be credited one business day prior to the actual payday. For this pay period, that will be Thursday, 11 January 2018.

If you use any other type of checking account for your military pay deposit, your deposit will be credited on the actual military payday, Friday, 12 January 2018.

For this pay period, the important thing is really not when you get paid, but how you'll make that money last until the next payday. If you get stuck, check out Eight Ways To Get Through A Long Pay Period for ideas and solutions.
