The Jacksonville, Florida Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Facebook page has made the following announcement:

"Our offices in Jacksonville, Mayport, Kings Bay are currently in Disaster Operations Assistance Mode. They are now providing financial assistance to those families that are authorized to evacuate per Navy Region Southeast. Retirees are also eligible. You are eligible even with a current loan balance. No appointment is necessary, but please bring valid military ID.

$300 per single service member and $600 per family. Repayment of assistance will begin 1 December 2017 at $50 per month."

Things to know:

The service member does not need to be present.

If you've already left the area, you can reach out to any NMCRS office or you can contact the American Red Cross at 877-272-7337.  They are authorized to give disaster assistance on behalf of NMCRS, with the same terms as listed above.

You do not need to go to base where you are located.

The Kings Bay, Georgia, office is closed for the night and will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday, 8 September 2017.

The Mayport office is closed for the night and will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday, 8 September 2017.

To the best of my knowledge, the Jacksonville, Florida office is closed for the night and will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday, 8 September 2017.

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society offices at other locations will continue to provide regular services, including Quick Assist Loans (QALs) and regular grant and loans to eligible patrons who are not under evacuation orders but would like to leave their area due to the storms.

Please, if you are in the affected areas, don't let financial difficulties prevent you from leaving.  Take advantage of the interest-free loans provided by NMCRS and take care of your families.
