Coming soon to a bank account near you, your 15 March 2017 military pay!  When will you see your pay deposit?  Banks and credit unions have different policies and procedures, so you may get your pay before or after your friend or neighbor.  The most important thing is that you will be paid by the end of Wednesday, 15 March 2017, unless something goes very wrong.

Several military-friendly financial institutions offer early direct deposit as a benefit to their customers.  Read on to see if your bank or credit union has an early direct deposit policy, and how it might affect this payday.

USAA

USAA credits military pay deposits one business day prior to the actual payday.  For this payday, that will be Tuesday, 14 March 2017.

Of all the banks and credit unions I get questions about, I get the most questions about what time USAA deposits pay.  It can vary, so don't panic if it isn't there at 12:02 am or even 4:43 am.  It's coming.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has two different policies, depending on which type of checking account you use for your pay deposit.

Members who use an Active Duty checking account have their military pay available for use one business day prior to the actual payday.  Pay will post overnight to be available for use on Tuesday, 14 March 2017.

Members who use any other type of checking account will have their military pay available for use on the actual payday.  Pay will be posted overnight to be available for use on Wednesday, 15 March 2017.

Not sure which type of account you use?  Check your online account access, call, or stop by a branch.  If you find that you are not using an Active Duty checking account, switching is fast and simple.  It may not take effect for this payday, but you get early direct deposit in the future plus take advantage of the other benefits of this account just for people receiving military pay.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday, pending receipt of the information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS.)  For this pay period, that deposit day will be Monday, 13 March 2017.

I got a nice note from the Service Credit Union folks stating that pay for this weekend will actually be posted on Saturday, 11 March 2017.  I don't completely understand why, but I'm glad I noticed that.  (I don't spend a lot of time on Twitter.)

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union credits military pay deposits two business day s prior to the actual payday.  For this pay period, that deposit day will be Monday, 13 March 2017.

Sometimes, pay deposits can come later in the day than you expect. 99% of the time, this is nothing to worry about. If payday has ended, and you still don't see your pay deposit, check out this list of steps to track down the problem.
