1 December 2016 Military Pay

The Thanksgiving holiday weekend always brings a lot of questions about military payday. The next regular, active duty military payday is Thursday, 1 December 2016 - next Thursday.  Despite the holiday weekend, and the many generous early direct deposit policies of banks or credit unions, I can't imagine any scenario under which anyone is getting paid before the weekend.  So, when will your 1 December 2016 military pay be deposited?  Sometime next week, with the details varying based upon the policies and practices of your financial institution.  Here are the exact details:

USAA

USAA credits military pay deposits one business day prior to the actual payday.  For this payday, that will be Wednesday, 30 November 2016.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has two different pay deposit dates.  Which day your pay will be deposited depends on the type of checking account that you use.  Members who use an Active Duty Checking account receive early direct deposits, members who use any other type of checking account do not.

Active Duty Checking account holders will see their military pay pending on Tuesday, 29 November 2016, to be processed overnight and available for use on Wednesday, 30 November 2016.

All other account holders will see their military pay pending on Wednesday, 30 November 2016, to be processed overnight and available for use on Thursday, 1 December 2016.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday.  For this payday, that will be Tuesday, 29 November 2016.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday.  For this payday, that will be Tuesday, 29 November 2016.  They do not guarantee this, but their track record is pretty impressive and there is no reason to think that there will be a delay in receiving the necessary pay information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

If your bank or credit union isn't listed, and you don't know that they have an early direct deposit policy or practice, then you should assume that your pay will be available for use at some time on Thursday, 1 December 2016.

Despite the long months, the next couple of paydays are on a pretty regular, two-week schedule. If you're planning ahead, the end of January is the next long pay period.

Happy Thanksgiving!
