Tuesday paydays can be confusing, especially if you bank with Navy Federal Credit Union.  The next regular, active duty military payday is Tuesday, 1 November 2016.  However, the day you'll see your pay can fall over several days, depending on your bank and the type of account that you use.  When will your 1 November 2016 military pay hit your bank account?  Let's see...

If you don't use a bank or credit union that offers early direct deposit of military pay, then you should expect to see your pay at some time on Tuesday, 1 November 2016.

USAA

The bjillion USAA members who use a USAA bank account for their military pay will see their deposit at some time on Monday, 31 October 2016.  This is because USAA guarantees that they will credit military pay one business day prior to the actual business day.

Whenever there is a Tuesday payday, I have emails and comments saying that USAA can't post deposits on a Monday because of the weekend.  I assure you that is not true for USAA.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) gets a little tricky with Tuesday paydays.  (Or is that trick-or-treaty??  Ugh....)  Some of their members get early direct deposit, and their posting system does not allow for Monday deposits.  So:

NFCU members who use an Active Duty checking account will see their pay pending on Friday, 28 October 2016, to be posted overnight and available for use on Saturday, 29 October 2016.

NFCU members who use any other type of checking account, including Everyday Checking, e-Checking, Flagship Checking, and Campus Checking, will see their pay pending on Monday, 31 October 2016, to be posted overnight and available for use on Tuesday, 1 November 2016.

If you're not sure what type of account you use, you can check your online account access, call them on the phone, or stop by a branch.  If you don't have an Active Duty checking account, and you want one, it is quick and easy to switch.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) credits military pay two business days prior to the actual payday, so PMCU members should see their pay on Friday, 28 October 2016.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay two business days prior to the actual payday, so Service Credit Union members should see their pay on Friday, 28 October 2016.

Don't forget, only four more paychecks before Christmas. Aauuggh! Must get myself prepared. You get prepared, too!
