1 July 2016 Military Pay

Just in time for the Independence Day holiday weekend, the next regular, active duty military payday is next Friday, 1 July 2016.  When will you see your 1 July 2016 military pay deposited into your bank account?  You've heard it before:  it depends on the bank you use and the type of account into which you have your pay deposited.

Most service members will have their pay deposited sometime on Friday, 1 July 2016.  The only reason you should be thinking that you will get paid before that date is if you bank with a bank or credit union that offers early direct deposit as a benefit to their military service member customers.

USAA

I like USAA for many reasons, and one of them is because their early direct deposit policy is clear, consistent, and guaranteed.  USAA offers to credit military pay deposits one business day prior to the regular military payday.  For this payday, that will be Thursday, 30 June 2016.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has two different deposit dates. Which day your pay will be deposited depends on the type of checking account into which you have your military pay deposited.  NFCU members who use an Active Duty Checking account will have their military pay deposited into their account to be available for use on Thursday, 30 June 2016.  Members who use any other type of account will have their military pay deposited into their account to be available for use on Friday, 1 July 2016.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union offers to deposit active duty military pay two business days early, pending the receipt of deposit information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).  Since this is a pretty straightforward pay period, there is no reason to believe that Service Credit Union will not credit military pay on Wednesday, 29 June 2016.  However, I do not know that this early pay offer is guaranteed, so don't be making purchases based on a 29 June 2016 pay deposit without confirming that it actually occurs first.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Independence Day weekend!
