Tampa area readers, mark your calendar and sign up for the 2015 “Keeping a Career on the Move” Military Spouse Symposium, presented by MOAA Spouse Programs in partnership with Hiring Our Heroes' Military Spouse Program.  The program will be held on Wednesday, 14 October 2015, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the A La Carte Events Pavilion, 4050 Dana Shores Drive, Tampa, FL, 33634.

This program is designed to support military spouses as they maintain a career while also supporting (and following) their active duty husband or wife.  Speakers and sessions will address strategies and tactics to create and sustain a professional working life.  Special features include keynote speaker, Congresswoman Kathy Castor and a lunchtime "Real Spouses, Real Stories" discussion featuring military spouses who are successfully pursuing a career.  There will also be a networking reception, hosted by Hiring Our Heroes' Military Spouse Program, learn more about networking and how to stand out amongst the many other candidates applying for jobs.  Plus, there will be an opportunity to get a great, professional LinkedIn headshot!

Not a military spouse?  No worries !  This event is free and open to all active duty, reserve, National Guard, retiree, veteran, and surviving military spouses, servicemembers, and veterans.

The program includes continental breakfast, lunch, beverages, and giveaways.  There are usually some great prizes.

Registration is done online through the Military Spouse Symposium webpage.  There is no listed date by which you must register, but it isn't a bad idea to register early just in case it gets full.

I was able to attend a MOAA Military Spouse Symposium way back in 2010, and it was a great event.  In addition to the fabulous session content, it was a warm and encouraging event filled with tons of great military spouses.  It is a great opportunity to build your community at the same time that you are building your career skills.  Don't miss out!
