Spouse Education and Career Opportunities

The end of summer means that PCS moves are over, and kids are going back to school.  For lots of military spouses, it also means job hunting.  Job hunting as a military spouse is never easy, but you might find some help from the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) program managed by Military One Source.

The main website page isn't very inviting or seem helpful, and I didn't find anything amazing or super-helpful within those links.  However, there is a lot of good basic information, including articles on military specific topics such as the Military Spouse Preference (MSP) in Employment, and Licensing and Certification issues.

The SECO program has employment counselors that are available by telephone or online.   Eligible military spouses requiring immediate career or education services may contact a certified SECO Career Counselor from 7 am to 10 pm EDT, Monday-Friday, or 10 am to 5 pm EDT, Saturday, by calling 800-342-9647.  Online resources are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at

I will warn you, I found many broken links as I looked through the website.  I am hoping this was just some odd thing because I'm overseas and it might be maintenance time wherever this site is located.

The military has spent a ridiculous amount of money on these spouse employment programs.  I would love to hear if any of you have used these resources, and what benefits you have found.  And for those of you who are job-hunting, check out this program.  It could help, and you won't know unless you try.
