Attention to all my readers in the greater DC area: on Thursday, 6 February 2014, Whitetail Resort in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania is offering Operation Thank You, a day of discounts for military and first responders.
The deals are pretty good. The actual EMS, firefighter, police officer, or military service member can receive:
- A Complimentary 8 hour Lift Ticket, plus
- Rental Equipment at the discounted rate of $25.00, plus
- 2 hours of free Tubing...
or
- A $39.00 Learn to Ski or Snowboard package.
Spouses and dependent children can receive:
- $49.00 All Mountain Package, and/or
- $15.00 2 hour Tubing ticket.
Whitetail Resort is located about two hours from most locations in the greater DC area, more if the weather is poor.
If you are able to take the day off, this would be a (relatively) affordable way to do a little skiing. If this doesn't fit in your schedule, be sure to check out the special offerings at all the area ski slopes, and check with your ITT office for military specific deals. I've seen plenty of other good deals, especially for weekdays. Most other ski areas have some sort of military discount or deals, be sure to ask. It can be such an expensive sport, so it really pays to take advantage of every deal available.
