.

It's that time again...when is payday?  The next military payday is Friday, 14 September 2012.  So when will you actually see the deposit show up in your account?  That depends on the policies and practices of your specific financial institution and also sometimes the type of account into which you have your pay deposited.

Most military pay deposits will arrive in accounts at some time on Friday, 14 September 2012.  However, many military-oriented banks and credit unions offer early direct deposit of military pay as a courtesy to their customers.  The most common type is "one business day early," which would be Thursday, 13 September 2012.  Banks and credit unions that offer this benefit include USAA and Pacific Marine Credit Union.

Service Credit Union offers deposits "up to two business days early," pending availability of information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS.)  With the payday scheduled for a Friday, it is unlikely that there will be a problem getting that information in time for a Wednesday, 12 September 2012 deposit.  There are no guarantees, though!

If you bank with Navy Federal Credit Union, the day of your deposit depends on the type of account into which your pay is deposited.  If you use Navy Federal's Active Duty checking, then your pay will show as pending on Wednesday, 12 September 2012, to be posted overnight and available for use on Thursday, 13 September 2012.  If you have any other type of checking account, your pay will show as pending on Thursday,1 3 September 2012, to be posted overnight and available for use on Friday, 14 September 2012.
