13 July 2012 Military Pay Day

The boards are lighting up with people searching for information about the next military pay day, Friday, 13 July 2012.  This pay day should work out pretty much the same as the last pay day on 29 June 2012 because they are both true Friday pay days, without any holidays or other silliness thrown in.  Most folks will get paid sometime on Friday, and some will see their pay one or two days earlier.  The most important thing to know about this payday is that it will be a really long time until the next one:  Wednesday, 1 August 2012.  Be prepared!

Military pay can be credited to your banking account any time on Friday, 13 July 2012 and it is still on time.  If you bank with a financial institution that offers early direct deposit of military pay as a benefit to its customers, you may have your pay on an earlier day, but the time of day can still vary from payday to payday.

The most frequent early deposit benefit is one business day early.  For this payday, that would be Thursday, 12 July 2012.  One business day early deposits are offered by USAA, PMCU, and other institutions.  Service Credit Union offers direct deposits "up to two business days early," pending receipt of the information from DFAS.  For this pay period, that will *hopefully* be Wednesday, 11 July 2012.

If you bank with Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU), the day you will receive your deposits depends on the type of account into which you have your pay deposited.  If you have an Active Duty checking account, you fall into the one business day early category and will see your pay pending on Wednesday, 11 July 2012, to be posted overnight and available for use on Thursday, 12 July 2012.  If you have any other type of checking, including Everyday, eChecking and Student checking, then you will see your pay pending on Thursday, 12 July 2012, to be posted overnight and available for use on Friday, 13 July 2012.
