30 March 2012 Military Pay

The next military payday is Friday, 30 March 2012...a week from tomorrow!  Active duty military members should see their pay deposited into their bank accounts some time on Friday, 30 March.  It can come any time from midnight to midnight, don't panic if it isn't there first thing in the morning.

Many banks and credit unions offer early deposit of military pay as a courtesy to their customers.  The most common is that pay is released one business day early.  Participating institutions include USAA and Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU).  For this pay day, that will be Thursday, 29 March.  Some other banks use different schedules.  You can call your bank to find out their policies if you are unsure.

Navy Federal Credit Union is a little tricky because it depends on what type of account into which you have your pay deposited.  Customers who have an Active Duty checking account receive their pay one business day early.  It will show as pending on Wednesday, 28 March and post overnight to be available on Thursday, 29 March.  Customers who have any other type of account, including Everyday checking, e-Checking, Student checking and Premier checking will see their payments pending in their account on Thursday, 29 February and post overnight to be available for use on Friday, 30 February.  Keep in mind, just because you are on active duty does not mean that you have an Active Duty checking account - it is a choice that you make.  Not sure what type of account you have?  Check your online account statement, stop by your branch, or give them a call.

If you are concerned that your payment hasn't shown up and you are pretty sure that it should be there, you might find Why Hasn't My Pay Been Deposited? useful as you figure out the problem.
