DoD says TA Won't Change, Yet

In the wake of the Marine Corps' Tuition Assistance announcements, the Department of Defense has stated that there will be no changes to Tuition Assistance (TA) in the immediate future. This is great news for people who are trying to pursue their college studies while on active duty.

However, officials also said that TA benefits will be considered as part of the ongoing review of servicemembers' total compensation packages, and that the current level of benefits is "unsustainable."   They also stated that changes to TA will occur in a thoughtful and well-coordinated in fashion, ensuring that the different branches maintain equal benefits.

You've probably seen my thoughts on this matter, but it is certainly a divisive subject.  Some of my friends and co-workers are much more knowledgeable about military education benefits, trends and history, and some of them strongly disagree with me.  This surely isn't the last time that we're going to hear about TA benefits.
