Well, it is time to try something different over here at the Kashman household. We have too much stuff for our upcoming move, plus I would like to beef up our bank account and/or make payments against our new car. I have been threatening to eBay/craiglist/yardsale a bunch of stuff for at least a year, and now it is time to do it. I require constant motivation, so I'm making a challenge for myself.
I'm making a personal goal of somehow scrounging up $1000 during the month of May, solely by getting rid of objects that shouldn't be in our house. This includes things that need to be returned, selling back textbooks, selling things on eBay or Craiglist, taking clothes and housewares to the consignment shop, and any other ideas that might pop up. I need all the ideas that I can think of, so please share yours.
Step one, a make way of visually measuring my progress.
Step two, a to-do list:
- Find textbooks that can be sold back to college. Put in car.
- Gather all returns and receipts. Put in car.
- Go through each room in house and identify stuff that can be sold on eBay. Put in one big pile.
- Photograph eBay stuff.
- Upload items to eBay.
- Take clothes to consignment shop.
Step four, mailing the things that are sold on eBay.
I'm going to keep my little chart on top so you can see how I am progressing throughout the month. Please share your thoughts and suggestions in the comments.
