Important MyCAA News

I just got an urgent message from a reader who is using the Career Advancement Account (CAA) fund her college classes.  She had heard that the CAA program was halting operations, effective today.  This isn't exactly right, though it is hard to get more information than that.  According to the CAA website,

"Effective immediately the MyCAA program is temporarily halting operations. We are reviewing the software applications, financial assistance documents and overall program. This pause will not affect approved Financial Assistance documents. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. Please check back for updates."

Well, that is pretty frustrating.  In the absence of any real information, I called.  After a lengthy wait, and being a little snippy with the Military One Source representative, I was referred to one of the Spouse Education and Career Consultants.  She was reluctant to act as a spokesperson for the CAA program but did state that they did not have any more information than was posted on the website.  She promised to forward my information to the program director immediately and have someone get back with me.  I will keep you posted as soon as I hear from her.  If you hear any substantiated information, please let me know.

I don't know if you can hear me sighing, but it is loud.  I've always been concerned that the CAA program was too good to last, and that it was very poorly organized.  I hope that this temporary suspension allows them to reorganize and come back better than ever.  Keep your fingers crossed!
