"Yards & Stripes: Service Academy Football" is a weekly podcast during the college football season devoted strictly to covering Army, Navy and Air Force football. Hosted by Price Atkinson, a new "Yards & Stripes" is available every Wednesday via iTunes, Stitcher, as well as online at Military.com.

Each episode consists of guest interviews with players, coaches and/or personnel from each of the three service academies along with game previews, news, analysis and more. In the final segment of each episode, Price honors a fallen former hero in the Travis Manion Foundation Honor Roll segment. Twenty episodes of "Yards & Stripes" begin in mid-August and continue thru January 2019. Check back here every week for fresh podcasts and articles.

Yards & Stripes Podcast Episodes

Episode 20 (3 January 2019) - It's the final "Yards & Stripes" of the season and we recap No. 22 Army's record-breaking 70-14 win over Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl. The Black Knights finished with an 11-2 record, nine straight wins and broke a pair of college football single-game bowl record in the win against Houston.

Episode 19 (19 December 2018) - We preview No. 22 Army's upcoming matchup against Houston in the Lockheed Armed Forces Bowl. We also welcomed Capt. John Plumstead, USA, who is a 2008 West Point graduate, former Army football co-captain and is now back at the Academy as the Executive Officer of West Point's Center for Enhanced Performance.

Episode 18 (12 December 2018) - It was another down-to-the-wire Army-Navy game and for the third-straight season the Black Knights came away victorious. Army captured the 119th Army-Navy Game with a 17-10 win over the Midshipmen. Host Price Atkinson was on the ground and has exclusive postgame interviews in this week's podcast including Army head coach Jeff Monken, Athletic Director Boo Corrigan and linebacker and co-captain Cole Christiansen. A must listen coming off college football's greatest rivalry.

Episode 17 (5 December 2018) - Get ready for Saturday's 119th annual Army-Navy game presented by USAA with our "Army-Navy Preview Special." It's absolutely loaded with guests including Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo, Navy starting QB Zach Abey, Army linebacker and co-captain Cole Christiansen. You won't find a radio show or podcast with as much info and guests ahead of this weekend's Army-Navy game!

Episode 16 (28 November 2018) - The season is slowly winding down and we recapped Air Force's 27-19 win over rival Colorado State in the Falcons' regular-season finale. AF fullback Cole Fagan was awarded our weekly "Game Ball" presented by Military after rushing for a career-high 260 yards against the Rams. Our guest this week is former Navy wide receiver and New York Giants punt returner Phil McConkey, who played a key role in the Giants's Super Bowl win against Denver (1987).

Episode 15 (21 November 2018) - All three teams were back in action and we recapped all three, including Army's win over undefeated FCS Colgate and Navy finally tasting a "W" by knocking off Tulsa on Senior Day in Annapolis. Our guest this week was Air Force senior wide receiver Marcus Bennett, who talked about the upcoming game on Thanksgiving Day against rival Colorado State.

Episode 14 (15 November 2018) - Army senior running back Darnell Woolfolk joined us this week to reflect on his outstanding career at West Point, historic ground this Army senior class has paved for the future and what was the most memorable touchdown of his career. We handed out our weekly "Game Ball" presented by Military.com to Air Force junior safety Grant Theil and previewed all three games this weekend!

Episode 13 (7 November 2018) - Army has done it...with last weekend's 17-14 win over Air Force, the Black Knights will retain the Commander-In-Chief Trophy. Host Price Atkinson recaps the game and welcomes former Navy free safety and current driver on NASCAR's Camping World Trucks Tour Jesse Iwuji.

Episode 12 (31 October 2018) - This week Price previews the Air Force at Army showdown and welcomes Army senior linebacker James Nachtigal to the podcast.

Episode 11 (24 October 2018) - This week we recap Army's 31-30 (OT) thriller against Miami (OH) as well as Air Force's road win at UNLV.

Episode 10 (17 October 2018) - This week we recap the Black Knights' win, plus Air Force and Navy's close losses, and interview Navy football Director of Player Personnel Omar Nelson (USNA '97).

Episode 9 (10 October 2017) - What a weekend we had in Colorado Springs, as we were on hand for Air Force's dominant 35-7 win over Navy in the first leg of the Commander-In-Chief Trophy! Price has interviews with players and coaches from both teams immediately after the game as well as former Army starting QB Ronnie McAda (USMA '97). Dubbed "Mr. Irrelevant" after being the last pick of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, McAda shared some great stories from his time playing football at West Point

Episode 8 (3 October 2018) - The first leg of the Commander-In-Chief Trophy is set to play out this coming weekend in Colorado Springs with Navy visiting Air Force. We welcomed Navy radio play-by-play "voice" Pete Medhurst to give us an update on the Mids' injured starting QBs, how head coach Ken Niumatalolo used the bye week to prepare and keys to the game. "3 Dog Thursday" host T.J. Rives talked about the game from an underdog's perspective and we remembered another fallen hero in this week's "Travis Manion Foundation Honor Roll" segment.

Episode 7 (26 September 2018) - Host Price Atkinson welcomes former Air Force head coach (1979-83) and current member of the College Football Playoff selection committee Ken Hatfield, who recalls his days in the Springs, including a funny story about his first college coaching job with the plebes at West Point. He also touches on his new role on the CFB Playoff committee. We also recap all three close, exciting games from last weekend, led by Army's OT loss at No. 5 Oklahoma, and preview this weekend's new matchups.

Episode 6 (19 September 2018) - Former Army starting quarterback Chad Jenkins (USMA '02) remembers his final college game, walking off the field for the final time having beaten Navy in the first Army-Navy game after the 9/11 attacks and why the game holds more significance for him now due to a recent diagnosis. Price also recaps Army and Navy's wins last weekend, hands out his weekly "Game Ball" presented by Military.com and remembers John David Fry in our "Travis Manion Foundation Honor Roll" segment.

Episode 5 (12 September 2018) - This week's featured guest is former Navy defensive end and 1971 Naval Academy graduate Tom O'Brien, who went to become the head coach at Boston College and N.C. State and is now in his second year working as the color analyst on the Navy radio network. Also, our "Travis Manion Foundation Honor Roll" segment that includes an interview with Gold Star Wife Theresa Jones remembering her husband Landon Jones, killed September 2013 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Episode 4 (5 September 2018) - Price recaps the opening weekend including Air Force's 38-0 shutout win, hands out his first "gameball" of the season presented by Military.com, welcomes this week's featured guest Marine and double amputee Rob Jones and finally previews all three matchups on Saturday (Liberty at Army, Air Force at FAU, Memphis at Navy).

Episode 3 (29 August 2018) - Host Price Atkinson starts with his preseason power rankings of the three teams. He then previews Army’s opener at Duke (Friday, Aug. 31), Air Force’s hosting Stony Brook (Saturday, Sept. 1) and finally Navy’s trip across the country to face host Hawaii (Saturday, Sept. 1).

Episode 2 (22 August 2018) - Keys for Army, Navy and Air Force football in 2018, and guests Jeff Monken (Army head coach), Brent Briggeman (Air Force beat writer for The Gazette in Colorado Springs), and Derrick Morgan from the Travis Manion Foundation

The son of a Vietnam veteran and former officer in the United States Army, "Yards & Stripes" founder and host Price Atkinson worked four years in the Sports Information Department at the U.S. Naval Academy. With a journalism background as a graduate and student-athlete at the University of Kentucky, he did a pair of stints writing for The Greenville News before transitioning into radio as the co-host of a local ESPN Upstate radio drive-time show. He lives in Greenville, S.C. with his wife and two sports-crazed kids.
