Prime Video's going for the long and slow rollout of its series, "The Terminal List," based on former Navy SEAL Jack Carr's best-selling series of books about lethal operator James Reece. The show is set to premiere on July 1, 2022.

Amazon Studios has released a first-look trailer for the show, and it's an excruciatingly short 18 seconds long. Still there's a lot to unpack in such a short video.

Chris Pratt plays Reece, a former SEAL who's on a mission to track down everyone who's responsible for an attack on his family. Carr is set to release his fifth Reece novel, "In the Blood," on May 17, 2022. That book has a trailer that's a full minute long. Even though the trailer says April 12, we’ve confirmed the May 17 release date.

But we're here to talk about those 18 seconds of Pratt and "The Terminal List."

We get to see Pratt in his dress uniform at a SEAL funeral, so everyone who hasn't read the books will know that Reece learned his trade as a Navy SEAL. We see his wedding ring, because family is important to our hero's motives.

We get to see an SUV convoy, car crashes, explosions and automatic weapons action. All of these are things that viewers want from a special operations action show.

And, to be accurate, the last three seconds of the clip is a Prime Video logo, so we're really only getting 15 seconds of intel.

For fans of the novels, that last shot of Reece may be the most important one. We see a silhouette of Reece wielding his iconic Winkler/Sayoc tomahawk. Fans of the novel know how crucial that gear will be to "The Terminal List" story.

Prime Video will release all eight episodes on July 1, so make your streaming plans for Independence Day weekend. We'll be back with updates as soon as we get them.
