The Department of Veterans Affairs recently opened its Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans in Texas. The new 53,000 square-foot center is a scientific and educational institution designed to conduct state-of-the-art research on mental health problems associated with combat exposure such as post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, substance, suicide and chronic pain. The Center is located on the campus of the historic Doris Miller VA Medical Center in Waco, Texas. The center staff is directly involved in increasing the understanding of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). For more information, read the VA VAntage Point Blog.
