The Troops to Teachers (TTT) program helps veterans get employment in K-12 education. It can help provide job placement and even provide financial aid.
All current and former members of the military with an honorable discharge are eligible. If you have an interest in instructional or non-instruction pre-K through high school education employment you may participate in the program for counseling and referral services. Those who meet certain criteria as defined by the legislation may also be eligible to apply for financial assistance to assist with their transition to the classroom.
Normally, you must have at least a bachelors degree to participate in the program, but they do accept veterans with associate degrees in certain circumstances. The program also provides education and assistance with state certifications.
The program places teachers in hard-to-fill positions at schools in impoverished areas, inner cities, reservations and understaffed locations. Veterans are especially suited for these programs thanks to their leadership skills. You are normally required to serve a minimum number of years at your first assigned location before moving on.
Register with Troops to Teachers online. Eligible service members may register with Troops to Teachers at any time.
