- Active duty
UPDATED APRIL 2017
- Delta Air Lines has a long history of providing special fares for active duty military personnel, and they have a number of generous policies in place. Military Leisure Travel Fares are not offered in all markets and are based on availability. They are pre-negotiated fares between the Federal Government and Delta Air Lines for both Domestic and International travel in support of the U. S. Armed Forces.
- Family members traveling to meet an active duty military member should contact Delta for assistance. Active duty military members who have questions or require assistance with their reservations should contact one of the reservations team members at 800-221-1212 and ask for the military desk.
- Active Duty U.S. Military Personnel and their dependents traveling on orders (including Leave Orders) may check up to 5 bags in Delta One™/First class and 4 bags in Main Cabin on any Delta or Delta Connection as free allowance for both domestic and international travel. They are permitted up to 70 pounds and up to 80 linear inches for each bag, allowing active servicemen and women to travel with optimum flexibility. (Retired military or military contractors are not eligible for this exception.) Military Personnel are not required to be in uniform for this exception. (Be aware that because of weight, balance and space constraints, Delta Connection carriers can only accept up to four bags at no charge.)
- For personal travel, active military presenting military identification may also check up to two bags weighing 50 pounds (23 kg) or less and measuring 62 inches (158 linear cm) or less in combined length, width and height without charge. Visit the Delta Air Lines website for more on baggage.
