Navy Identifies Sailor Shot and Killed in Southern Mississippi

BILOXI, Miss. — The Navy is identifying a sailor who been shot and killed on a base on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Officials tell news outlets that Builder Constructionman Grace Kayla Davis-Marcheschi died early Saturday morning at military housing belonging to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi.

The 23-year-old Davis-Marcheschi is originally from Oregon. She had been assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 since January, but was temporarily assigned to help augment security forces at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport.

Davis-Marcheschi came to the Mississippi base as a student in September 2017, graduating from training in November.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is handling the investigation. No other details were immediately available.
