Tyndall Air Force Base is located 12 miles east of Panama City. The Panama City area, best known for its sugar-white sand and emerald green waters, is a popular tourist destination. Tyndall AFB is home to 325th Fighter Wing, Headquarters, 1st Air Force, 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group and the 601st Air Operations Center.

On December 7, 1941, the first of 2,000 troops arrived at Tyndall Field. Although construction was incomplete, instructors and students began preparing for the first aerial gunnery class.

Located just 12 miles east of Panama City, Tyndall Air Force Base is is an ideal duty station for beach lovers. The base is located on Florida’s beautiful Emerald Coast and boasts pristine beaches and proximity to both Destin and Panama City Beach.

Tyndall AFB is probably most renowned for their F-22 Raptor training and maintenance units but is also home to the 325th Fighter Wing, 1st Air Force, 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group and the 601st Air Operations Center.
