Fort Leonard Wood, a military community located in the beautiful south central Missouri Ozarks, covers more than 61,000 acres.
Fort Leonard Wood Garrison Command is proud to have the 1st Engineer Brigade, 3rd Chemical Brigade, 14th Military Police Brigade and many more on the installation to make Fort Leonard Wood #1 in training.
The installation was designated as Fort Leonard Wood, in honor of Major General Leonard Wood, a distinguished American Soldier who served for 40 years.
More Base Details and Info
Life at Fort Leonard Wood (jokingly called Fort Lost in the Woods) moves slowly and lacks suburban perks -- the closest Target is more than an hour’s drive! -- but it is a very military-friendly area. In fact, it is hard to tell where the base ends and the adjacent town of St. Robert begins, as military members and retirees make up a significant portion of the population.
