The American Legion is continuing its awareness Walk for Veterans around the country. The walks are an opportunity to raise awareness about veterans' issues. A Walk for Veterans will take place in Connecticut on Oct. 5. The 2.1-mile walk will get underway at 9 a.m. At Post 112, 89 Pink Row in Uncasville, Conn. Registration is encouraged; fee is $20 and donations will benefit the Legion's National Emergency Fund. Send payment and T-shirt size to Department of Connecticut headquarters at 287 West St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. American Legion National Headquarters staff can assist in planning and promoting a Walk for Veterans.
