More than 450 South Dakota Korean-era Conflict veterans received special honors on recently during a special ceremony in the State Capitol and in numerous other South Dakota communities. The veterans were recognized for their service during the Korean War and were presented the Korean Ambassador Peace Medal. Over 450 veterans were recognized and honored, but there are many more veterans from South Dakota that qualify for the medal. Korean War Veterans in South Dakota who served in Korea's land, air and sea from June 25, 1950, through Oct. 25, 1954, are encouraged to contact their local county or tribal Veteran's Service Officer (VSO).
