Steve Martin and Martin Short took to the stage at Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, on October 5 to entertain sailors and their families.
The only problem? The comedy icons aren’t sure if the sailors had any idea who they were. After all, the base is home to the Navy’s only boot camp, so many of the sailors there are too young to remember the stand-up comedy albums, movies and “Saturday Night Live” sketches that made the two men world-famous.
“We performed for a group of sailors who - we think - had no idea who we are,” Martin told Milwaukee Public Radio a day later. “But it went well, and we feel that we educated them about who we are, and by the end of the show, it went great.”
However, what is clear from taking a look at the photos below, is that the sailors and others who saw the comedy duo perform had a great time.
