John Krasinski first started to leave his role on The Office behind when he got all jacked an starred in Michael Bay's Benghazi movie 13 Hours. Now he's playing Tom Clancy's legendary CIA operative Jack Ryan in an upcoming Amazon Prime series called Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

Amazon debuted a new trailer last Friday at New York Comic-Con.

Much like the recent movie American Assassin (based on Vince Flynn's novels about CIA operative Mitch Rapp), the new series portrays a young version of Ryan but will set the action in contemporary times instead of the era featured in Clancy's original novels. Amazon has promised some Jack Ryan vs. ISIS action.

Carlton Cuse (who worked on Lost and Bates Motel) is the executive producer and show runner and the series. Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes company is also working on the show, so Krasinski and Bay must've hit it off when they made 13 Hours.

The eight-episode first season also stars Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch, Limitless) and Wendell Pierce (The Wire, Treme). Amazon describes it as a "reinvention" of the character after the pretty-good Chris Pine movie Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit failed to find an audience.

This time Jack is "an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that throws him into the center of a treacherous stratagem with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale."

We'll have more on Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan  once Amazon announces an air date for the series.
