Under the Radar

Join Us for a Facebook Live Conversation with 'Drone Warrior' Author Brett Velicovich

UPDATE: We've got a new start time, one hour later at 1pm ET (10AM PT).

On Friday, August 11th at 1pm ET, we’ll have a Facebook Live interview with author and Army veteran Brett Velicovich on the Military.com Facebook page. We'll be talking with Velicovich about his new book Drone Warrior: An Elite Soldier's Inside Account of the Hunt for America's Most Dangerous Enemies (available now) and taking your questions.

General Michael V. Hayden, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency calls the book “a must read for anyone who wants to understand the new American way of war.”

Brett Velicovich is a former special ops intelligence analyst and both witnessed and participated in the rise of drone technology in 21st century warfare. He worked as a targeting officer, in charge of identifying and tracking top terrorist targets. His primary tools were Predator and Reaper drones. He's able to share amazing stories in the book and offer tantalizing hints at (probably even more amazing) tales that have been redacted for security reasons.

Since he left the Army, Brett has been in the commercial drone business, but his passion is pioneering the use of drones for humanitarian use.  He’s a founder of The African Eye Project, which uses drones to help protect endangered African species from poachers.

Velicovich co-authored the book with Christopher S. Stewart, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter at The Wall Street Journal.
