Killing Hasselhoff (out now on DVD) is a ramshackle R-rated comedy determined to shock anyone who thought Baywatch and Knight Rider were fine family entertainment. David Hasselhoff is fully on-board with the effort to portray himself as a preening, vain and slightly clueless celebrity airhead. The Hoff becomes the target of Chris, a broke nightclub owner (Ken Jeong, The Hangover) who stands to win $500K in a celebrity death pool if Hasselhoff dies.

Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) and comedian Jim Jefferies play Jeong's friends and Jon Lovitz (SNL's lying Tommy Flanagan) manages the Hoff. Will Sasso (Three Stooges) plays a loan shark and Colton Dunn (Superstore) plays the hitman who get in on the attempted assassination fun. Justin Bieber, NBA star Rick Fox, Spice Girl Mel B., Howie Mandel and Police Academy beatboxer Michael Winslow all appear as themselves.

This train wreck is light on plot and heavy on the obvious improv. The story is dumb, exactly what it aims to be. Your mileage will vary based on your interest in seeing the Hoff mock his fan base. He's having a great time (spoiler: he doesn't die) and this movie does a far better job of making fun of Baywatch than Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron could ever imagine.
