You never really know what you're getting with an upcoming R-rated movie until you see the Red Band trailer. American Assassin, based on the late Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp novels, is due in theaters on September 15th and the studio has just released its uncensored trailer.

American Assassin is based on the 2010 novel that flashed back to Rapp's origin story and stars Dylan O'Brien (The Maze Runner) as a very young version of Mitch. If this one works, O'Brien can grow into and not age out of the role five movies down the line. We'll be spared seeing some 60-year-old actor pretending to be a lethal killing machine.

Michael Keaton co-stars as Rapp's mentor, Cold War veteran Stan Hurley. Rapp and Hurley have barely completed training when CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) joins with them to stop a plot that aims to start a worldwide nuclear war. Shiva Negar is the Turkish agent working with a mysterious operative played by Taylor Kitsch to start another World War.
