World of Tanks made a huge splash at the Super Bowl with a series of 15-second commercials that parodied the worst of the promo spots that run in seemingly endless rotation on every cable channel. It was a surprise to see Wargaming commercials alongside corporate giants like Budweiser, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Coca-Cola and Tide, but the ads more than held their own.
Promos for Teensy House Buyers, Real Awful Moms, Fantasy Sports Bros and imaginary erectile-dysfunction drug Stiffedra are interrupted by the arrival of a giant tank that smashes the set under its treads. Each spot ends with the tagline "Tanks Rule!"
World of Tanks is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game available for both PC & Mac. Players battle with 20th-century tanks in historically accurate settings. It's one of the world's most popular games, especially in Russia and Eastern Europe. The World of Tanks professional eSports league will have its championship Grand Finals coming up later this spring.
