Our news team reported yesterday that two women officers are among the 96 candidates who've completed the two-month leadership training program at the U.S. Army Ranger School. The yet-to-be-identified West Point alumnae will receive their Ranger tabs on Friday and become the program's first women graduates.
So, the day has arrived: women have qualified for one of the nation's elite military units and have qualified by matching the standards required for their male counterparts. Should the U.S. Army allow them to serve as Rangers? Or should the military declare this an experiment that requires further study? Would a woman's presence in a unit create a distraction at the tip of the spear?
