What to See at the 2015 GI Film Festival

The GI Film Festival continues to gain momentum and the upcoming 2015 event will be by far its biggest yet. Dubbed the "Sundance for Troops" by founders Brandon Millett and Laura Law-Millett, the DC-based festival showcases both feature and documentary films about the military experience.

The festival runs May 18-24 and tickets are available online and you can see the full festival schedule here. Military.com is hosting 35 trailers from this film on our video channel.

The Millionaire's Unit

Sunday May 24, 8pm (Angelika at Mosaic)

A group of Yale college students from wealthy and priviledged families who form a private air militia to learn to fly in preparation for WWI. The First Yale Unit became the founding squadron of the US Naval Air Reserve. They become the first to fly and the first to die for the US in the Great War.

Battle Scars

Luke Stephens (Zane Holtz) shows up on his brother Nicky (Ryan Eggold)’s doorstep after a tour in Afghanistan. Suffering from both P.T.S.D. and physical wounds, Luke wants nothing more than to forget the war, but his veteran father (David James Elliott) won’t let him. At a gentleman’s club, run by a ruthless killer (Fairuza Balk), Luke crosses paths with Michelle (Heather McComb) who leads him into turbulent world every bit as dangerous and isolating as the brutality Luke so desperately tried to leave behind in Afghanistan.

C.O.B.A.L.T.

In the spirit of Robot Chicken, Team America: World Police and The Thunder birds, C.O.B.A.L.T. is a true Action Figure Action Movie. A plastic animated action in the story of Agent True who recounts her first day on the job, hunting down a terrorist cell. Done in painstaking traditional stop motion, C.O.B.A.L.T. is a good, old fashioned action movie if acted by action figures.
