Coming Back with Wes Moore is a three-part PBS documentary that personalizes the experiences of returning veterans and celebrates the lives of this group of exceptional people. The series explores the experiences of nine veterans for an American civilian audience that overwhelmingly has no direct connection to the experiences of the men and women who served.
The documentary makes the point that the return can be a struggle for everyone, not just the men and women with visible injuries. U.S. Army Sgt. Bobby Henline does have visible injuries: over 40% of his body was burned when is Humvee was hit by an IED in Iraq. After a difficult adjustment period. Henline has made a new career as a stand-up comedian.
The series premieres on PBS Tuesday May 13th at 8pm but, as with all PBS shows, check your local listings to find out exactly when your station will air the programs. Check back here later for a full interview with host Wes Moore, the Army vet, author and TV presenter who hosts the series.
