This month marks the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination and PBS' American Experience is set to premiere the four-hour documentary JFK on November 11-12 as part of its The Presidents series.

Part One covers Kennedy's life up until his 1960 election to the Presidency and includes the above clip that discusses his World War II Navy service and his command of the patrol torpedo boat PT-109. Part Two covers his time in the White House, including the challenges of Civil Rights, the Bay of Pigs disaster and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The film features new interviews with Kennedy family members and the historians Robert Dallek, Robert Caro and Evan Thomas.
