The initial response to Battlefield 3 is mostly positive, except some folks absolutely hate the single-player version. We're not finished with our own testing here in the UTR labs, so check out these reviews until we give our definitive verdict next week.

The Mclatchy/Tribune news service raves that "multiplayer matches feel like a genuine war rather than a small-scale skirmish."

The Wall Street Journal says really positive things overall but admits that BF3 might not stand up in comparison to Call of Duty.

CNET gives the PC version four stars and says BF3 "provides thrills that few games can match."

Venturebeat takes out the whupping stick and calls the game "EA's biggest fumble since Medal of Honor."

IGN says BF3 "suffers from an identity crisis."
