Leonard Pitts is walking 500 miles from his hometown of Clinton, SC to Washington, DC to raise money and awareness on behalf of the USO. He's documenting his journey on his website http://lpitts.com. There's no word why he chose to make the journey in June instead of , say, April or October but Pitts did tell Charlotte, NC television station WCNC-TV that "The heat, the heat is the hardest part." If you're driving around Virginia this week and see Leonard panting on the side of the road, please stop and give him a bottle of water.
