Google network engineering manager Vijay Gill told an Australian tech conference that the biggest threat to the search company's Oregon data center was a local one. Bored hunters try to shoot out the insulators on the electric poles but end up snapping the power cables instead. The problem has gotten so bad that Google is spending the money to bury the cables in an attempt to protect its investment.
