There are lots of hoax videos on YouTube: this one looks real. A guy goes out for cigarettes and his girlfriend says he never pays attention to her. She deletes all of his World of Warcraft characters. Mayhem ensues.
There's a lesson here for all gamers: make sure you set a password required to wake your computer and put the machine to sleep whenever you leave the house.
