June Commissary Remote Location Sales

FacebookXPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare

Summer has finally arrived in most parts of the country (sorry, Colorado,) and the Defense Commissary Agency (DECA) continues to bring commissary products and prices to remote locations through its Guard and Reserve Sales program.  This program teams regular, bricks-and-mortar commissary stores with bases, usually National Guard or reserve locations, that don't have convenient commissary access.  The sponsoring commissary stores load up a truck, or a few, with products, and set up a temporary store at the hosting Guard or reserve base.  It's a great opportunity for all authorized commissary shoppers to enjoy the benefits of commissary shopping without having to travel to a commissary that might be hours away.  Eligible patrons include active duty military, reservists, National Guard, retirees and 100% disabled veterans and their dependent family members who have a Department of Defense military identification card.

So far, DECA has announced three sales for June 2017, but more can always be added.

The hyperlink in each sale listed above takes you to the website for the sponsoring commissary store.  I strongly encourage you to contact the sponsoring stores for more details, including exact locations, times, and to ensure that there haven't been any schedule changes.  This is particularly important if attending requires effort due to distance or abilities - it would be awful to drive several hours to go to a sale only to find out it had been postponed or otherwise wasn't happening.

Despite the vast number of discount grocery shopping options available in the United States, I still find that the commissary has the best prices on many of the products I buy regularly.  If you're an eligible commissary patron, and a sale is coming near you, you should check it out and see what items might be worth stocking up.
