Don’t forget that you can find all the updated 2017 military pay charts here at Military.com.

We have another Monday military payday coming up, and those always cause confusion.  Let's just hope we aren't also dealing with a government shutdown issue at the same time!  For now, let's assume that Congress and the President come together to pass a budget or continuing resolution, so everyone can get paid on time.  When will your Monday, 15 May 2017 military pay actually show up in your bank account.  As always, that depends on the policies and practices of your individual bank or credit union, and the wrinkles that a week put into those policies and practices.

If your financial institution doesn't offer early direct deposit as a benefit to its customers or members, you should assume that your pay will be deposited sometime on Monday, 15 May 2017, and be pleasantly surprised if it comes earlier.

Please note:  If you receive early direct deposit of your military pay, this is going to be a long pay period - 19 days.  That might be tough if you are living paycheck-to-paycheck.  This is a great time to make meals out of those random things in the back of your pantry, take advantage of the nice weather and turn off the heat or air conditioning, and plan your trips to lower your gas usage.

USAA

USAA credits military pay one business day prior to the actual payday.  For this pay period, that will be Friday, 12 May 2017.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) is extra-confusing for Monday paydays.  Because of the way they process their pay deposits, NFCU can't have a deposit available for use on a Monday.  This means that deposits for Monday paydays come early even for those who don't usually get early direct deposit.

As a general rule, early direct deposit is a benefit of only one type of NFCU checking account:  Active Duty Checking.  NFCU members who use any other type of checking account for their direct deposit do not receive early crediting.  The exception to this rule is when payday falls on a Monday.

NFCU customers who use an Active Duty checking account will have their pay posted overnight to be available for use on Friday, 12 May 2017.

NFCU customers who use any other type of checking account will have their pay posted overnight to be available for use on Saturday, 13 May 2017.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay up to two business days early, pending the receipt of information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS.)  For this pay period, Service Credit Union projects that it will credit military pay on Thursday, 11 May 2017.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union credits military pay two business days prior to the actual military payday.  For this pay period, Pacific Marine Credit Union members should have their pay deposited on Thursday, 11 May 2017.

Do you have a bank or credit union that pays your military pay early, but it's not listed here?  I'd like to hear about it!
