Well, folks, this one is a doozy for a few certain individuals. The next regular, active duty military payday is Wednesday, 1 June 2016. Most people will see their 1 June 2016 military pay deposited on that day, and some people will have their pay deposited the day before. One certain group is going to get paid super-early this payday, due to their financial institution's pay depositing process.
USAA
USAA credits deposits of active duty military pay one business day prior to the actual payday. For this payday, one business day early is Tuesday, 31 May 2016.
Navy Federal Credit Union
This one is not simple. In order to know what day you will have your pay in your Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) checking account, you must first be sure that you know what type of checking account you use for your active duty military pay deposits. If it is an eChecking, Everyday Checking, Flagship Checking, or Campus Checking account, you will see your pay deposited on the regular, active duty military payday of Wednesday, 1 June 2016.
However, if you use an Active Duty Checking account for your military pay deposits, you will have your pay post overnight to be available for use on Saturday, 28 May 2016. There are two things happening here: first, Active Duty Checking account holders have the benefit of receiving their pay one business day early. However, due to the NFCU deposit posting process, the day prior to the day when pay deposits are available for use must be a business day. In order to have the pay deposit available one business day early (Tuesday), NFCU would have to initiate those deposits on Monday. However, this Monday is a federal holiday, so the whole process gets moved back to the business day prior to the holiday and weekend. Pay deposits will be initiated on Friday evening to be posted overnight and available for use on Saturday, 28 May. It's a little convoluted, that that's what the official pay schedule says.
PMCU
Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) credits deposits of active duty military pay one business day prior to the actual payday. For this payday, one business day early is Tuesday, 31 May 2016.
