NFL Discounts for Military Families

Football season is here, and lots of people like to go to National League Football (NFL) games.  Boy, they are not cheap!  And if you have a family, the cost quickly becomes prohibitive.

Average ticket prices to attend an NFL game are now over 80 per ticket.  That means my family of six would spend $480 just to get into the stadium.  Add in $25 for parking, some $5 soda, and a few $5 hot dogs, and you're still hungry and thirsty.   And if someone wants a souvenir, like a jersey - yikes!

Thankfully, many franchises offer some sort of military discounts.  My colleague,  Heather Sweeney, collects all the football discounts in's Discount Center.  Be sure to check out your favorite team before making any purchases.

Additionally, keep your ears and eyes open for free tickets available through various military ticket venues.  Local area Information, Tickets, and Tours (ITT) offices often receive surplus or donated tickets for distribution to military families.  I've found the best way to keep up with these offers is to like the Facebook pages for nearby base MWR and ITT offices, and to also sign up for their email updates.

With some savvy shopping, you can cut the cost of these fun family memories and keep a little more money in your pocket.
