The U.S. Army Field Band will star in "Songs of Service," a 30-minute musical special set to air on select CBS stations on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, after the Army-Navy football game.

The special is confirmed to air in the New York City and Philadelphia CBS stations. If you live elsewhere, check your local listings. You also can watch the show on-demand via Pluto TV or on the We Are The Mighty YouTube Channel.

The program will be hosted by Toni Trucks, who plays logistics officer Lisa Davis on the Paramount+ series "SEAL Team." Trucks will present musical performances and vignettes from veterans from World War II to the present. Active-duty service members will be on camera as well.

Creedence Clearwater Revival founder and Army veteran John Fogerty will play his song, "Fortunate Son," with the Army's Six-String Soldiers band as part of the special. The song became an anthem for young men who didn't have the class or educational background that allowed many to skip military service during the Vietnam War era.

The U.S. Army Field Band is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The band was founded on March 21, 1946, on a day when Gen. Jacob Devers commissioned Chief Chester E. Whiting to "organize a band that will carry into the grassroots of our country the story of our magnificent Army, its glorious traditions and achievements." Over the decades, the Field Band has performed in all 50 states and in more than 30 countries on four continents.

Directed by Army veteran Robert Ham, "Songs of Service'' was filmed at 11 locations in the Washington, D.C., area, including the Military Women's, 9/11 Pentagon, Vietnam and World War II memorials.

Trucks celebrated the concert in a press release, saying, "I'm so proud to honor all those who serve with so many amazing songs from the Army Field Band and even a special performance from Vietnam veteran John Fogerty. Songs of Service is an amazing tribute to all those who have served past, present and future."

The concert also includes "Brass Ceiling," a piece by Laura Karpman written in tribute to women in the military; "Heroes," a song written by Iraq War veteran Sal Gonzalez; "A Portrait of Honor," composed by Joshua Moshier; and "America the Beautiful."
