Sony has reportedly gotten popular PlayStation exclusive Gran Turismo 7 running on the Switch 2, though a full release isn't expected. The follow-up to the Nintendo Switch has already given fans plenty to be excited about throughout its first few months, launching some heavy hitters for the new console. The Switch 2 featured Mario Kart World as its flagship launch title, while the following months would bring exciting new games like Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Nintendo's new platform has also been home to some big-name ports.
A plethora of popular games from the last console generation have already made their way onto the Switch 2 following its release. Nintendo has welcomed third-party hits like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Street Fighter 6 to its roster, with each reportedly performing well on the console. The release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2 in January was also a hit for Nintendo and Square-Enix, becoming the Switch 2's second-best-selling game of the month. Now, Sony has reportedly gotten one of its biggest exclusives to work on the Switch 2, though fans shouldn't get too excited.
Sony Reportedly Has Gran Turismo 7 Running on Switch 2
A recent report from insider Jeff Grubb suggests that Sony has gotten Gran Turismo 7 running on Switch 2. Grubb mentioned Sony has the racing game working on Switch 2 during a discussion about the developer bringing more of its games to PC, responding to a fan question. Grubb was quick to rule out the possibility of an official release during the conversation, suggesting that he personally believes that Sony does not intend to bring Gran Turismo 7 to the Nintendo platform. Fans, however, have speculated that Sony's Switch 2 version of Gran Turismo 7 could have another purpose within the company.
Many fans in discussions about the Jeff Grubb clip have suggested that Sony may be preparing for its rumored next console. Early leaks have suggested that the PlayStation developer may have some bold plans for its next-generation console, considering a portable version of the PlayStation 6. The portable version of the console is rumored to be similar to Nintendo's blueprint for the Switch and Switch 2, with players able to slot the console into a dock to play on a TV with improved performance.

Gran Turismo 7 has been a huge success for Sony since its original debut in 2022, with the game continuing to maintain its popularity. A recent report from Sony revealed that Gran Turismo 7 is still gaining new players in significant numbers, even nearly four years after its release. Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that the racing game still boasts more than 2 million active players as of December 2025, stating that Gran Turismo 7 has seen some of the best overall performance in franchise history. Gran Turismo 7 will celebrate its fourth anniversary in March, with the game continuing to receive content updates, adding new cars, tracks, and more.
