It’s been a slow drip of leaks regarding the upcoming Legend of Zelda LEGO set, from details on the design, the release date, and the piece count. But finally, we have the full picture thanks to the latest leak.
This new LEGO leak leaves little to the imagination, confirming the design of the Legend of Zelda set, as well as its piece count, and name. Officially titled The Final Battle: Ocarina of Time, this upcoming LEGO set will feature a diorama concept pitting Link and Zelda against Ganon. But what’s really interesting about this Legend of Zelda LEGO set is that it seems to be a 2-in-1, not unlike the Deku Tree set from a few years ago.
As the prior leaks had revealed, this Ocarina of Time LEGO set will center on the climactic battle between Link and Ganon in his beast form. Most predicted that would be the case based on the first teaser trailer for the set, which showed Link looking at an ominous shadow towering over him. The diorama will include some destroyed pieces of Hyrule Castle, including part of a tower, as well as flames and some bits of rubble. It also has a cool Triforce symbol on the front.
In terms of minifigures and unique pieces, the Zelda LEGO set includes Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf minifigs as expected, alongside a Navi minifig, a Megaton Hammer, and recovery hearts. It’s a pretty comprehensive set in terms of minifig offering, and will be perfect for those Zelda fans out there who have been waiting for a Ganon to add to their own LEGO MOCs.
Of course, the focal point of The Final Battle: Ocarina of Time LEGO set is the brick-built Ganon. It certainly looks a lot like what I imagined it to look like, with the Beast Ganon design and the dual swords. I would have liked to see something as detailed as the LEGO Bowser with all the intricacy, but the 1,003 piece count suggested this might be smaller in scale, and now we know that’s true.
While the image on the LEGO box shows Link in an action pose facing off against Beast Ganon, there is a supplementary image that swaps in Ganondorf in his Gerudo minifig form. It’s not as involved as the Deku Tree, but it seems like you can choose how best to set the scene for your final battle LEGO set by choosing where to pose Link and Zelda and which Ganon to use.
With that lower piece count, the expectation was that the LEGO set would be moderately priced, and it is. The Final Battle: Ocarina of Time set will cost $129.99 in the US, which I predict is going to be a point of contention. To LEGO fans, this is not a bad price at all, but non-LEGO collectors might be surprised that a relatively simple LEGO set like this would command $130.
