Lara Croft is one of the most iconic and popular video game characters of all time. In a medium dominated by male protagonists, Tomb Raider's Lara Croft – like Samus Aran before her – proved there was a place for strong female characters in gaming. The Tomb Raider franchise is still going strong in 2026, with a new TV series starring Sophie Turner on the way and a full remake of the original game for modern consoles. Three decades after the original Tomb Raider's release, Chronicles of the Tomb Raider is set to explore 30 years of gaming history in a detailed love letter to the Tomb Raider franchise.

Presented in a joint effort by Crystal Dynamics and Dark Horse Books, Chronicles of the Tomb Raider will explore Lara Croft's life, the Tomb Raider's franchise's history, and the series' cast & lore in chronological order. Written by author Alex Forbes-Calvin, whose previous credits include RuneScape: The First 20 Years – An Illustrated History and The Making of Assassin's Creed: 15th Anniversary Edition, Chronicles of the Tomb Raider promises to be a definitive breakdown of gaming's most storied franchises.
