DoD Looks at Cutting Pay and Benefits

Two separate DoD advisory panels recently made several recommendations for reducing the DoD's personnel budget. The panels' short term recommendations included making military retirees pay more out of pocket for their TRICARE benefit. The panels also made long term recommendations which include designing new retirement, compensation and promotion systems to replace the current "inefficient and rigid" systems.
