One of the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA's) partners is the Fisher House Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that builds comfort homes where military families can stay free of charge while their loved ones receive medical treatment nearby. Thirty-two out of 72 total Fisher Houses are located at VA medical campuses nationwide, with new constructions currently underway. Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles Program, which provides round-trip airfare for servicemembers and their families requiring treatment at a military or VA medical center. The program is supported by frequent flyer donations from individuals. For more information, visit the Fisher House Foundation website and the Hero Miles Program webpage.
